After reading Lane Wallace’s “Unforgotable: My 10 Best Flights”, it got me thinking about my 10 best flights… So here is my personal list of Top 10 Most Memorable Flights…With any luck, I hope to replace at least one of these flights every year with something even more amazing!
10. Flight to Niagara Falls
Why: Very scenic flight and a unique Special Flight Rules Area. Check out the Video Recap here:
9. GPS Skywriting
Why: Cool aviation exercise requiring clever planning & execution. I have done this one multiple times. You can see the video recap of the latest one here:
8. Attempted Space shuttle viewing
Why: Cool aviation exercise and major weather flying
7. Aerobatic Training with Patty Wagstaff
Why: Cool Aviation Exercise ; Learning the absolute essence of aerodynamics.
6. Scenic trip to M9
Why: First flight in Canada ; Rockies crossing ; Kelowna & Alaska landings
5. NYC skyline flight
Why: Scenery ; childhood memories
4. Island Hopping in Hawaii (Part 1 & Part 2)
Why: Amazing Scenery ; Challenging Winds ; Completion of bucket list item.
3. Arctic Adventure to Churchill, Manitoba
Why: At 58 degrees north latitude, this trip was the furthest north I have ever flown. The weather along the way was quite challenging. But at the destination, we saw polar bears, beluga whales and even the northern lights! You can see a video recap here:
2. Africa Self Fly Safari
Why: This trip was multiple flights over a couple of weeks. Between scenery, animals and overflying Victoria Falls, this is easily #1 on my list (so far). Along the way, I got a South African license validation. You can see a video recap here:

Why: This trip is currently at the top of my top 10 list. The mountains and scenery of the South Island of New Zealand was simply breathtaking. Along the way, I got a New Zealand license validation. You can see the video recap here:
